42nd Street Photo recommends the Canon Powershot G11 10.0 Megapixel Digital Camera

The Canon PowerShot G11 is a high-end, fixed lens camera that combines the manual controls and expandability of a D-SLR with all the great extras of a point and shoot. The G11 replaces the PowerShot G10 which had jumped to 14.7 megapixels, bringing with it an increase in noise. The new PowerShot G11 drops back to the 10-megapixel resolution and while it seems like a step back the changes are for the better.

G11 include a 5X, 28 – 140 mm lens, optical image stabilization, full manual controls, a high resolution LCD, support for conversion lenses and an external flash, and a VGA movie mode.

Performance is the same as its predecessor; it’s above average for its class, but still a bit slower for a camera in its price range.
