42nd Street Photo recommends the Nikon D40
One of our best selling digital cameras is the Nikon D-40 6.1 Megapixel Digital Camera. It’s not surprising really, because the Nikon D-40 is one of the best cameras you can buy for your buck.
While the D-40 shares a lot of similarities with the D-50, it comes at a much lower price with only a few differences in its features – many of them being a better change. The D-40 is more compact and as easy to use as a point-and-shoot, while still affording all the liberties to the experienced photographer that generally only come with fully manual digital cameras.
As usual, we have to dispell the myth that more megapixels means better captures, since the D-40 at it’s 10.1 resolution takes clearer pictures than many lesser quality digital cameras with higher a megapixel count. You can thank the improved viewfinder, quicker shutterspeed and ISO settings for that.
Among the myriad of features comes a nice sized set of in-camera touch up options, including red eye reduction, d-lighting, trimming, monochrome, image overlay and a number of filter effects.
Overall, the differences between the Nikon D-40 and its predecessor, the D-50, were wise decisions to make it a more compact model and save money, and in turn, offering the model for a much better price.
